Now that was a good day!

The administrative assistant for the Vice President of the Marketing department had given her two week's notice. I had applied for her job.

Today I was offered the position! It means an immediate raise in addition to the scheduled raise/evaluation in September.
Additionally, in one year the boss I will be supporting will be qualified for a promotion which will open the way for me to raise up another level as well!

It's an exciting time. Kind of scary too, but exciting.

Part II is that I completed my accounting course with an "A"! Whew!
Actually, it was sort of fun. Now, when the bank says they will be "crediting my account," I will really know what they are talking about!

Fun in the Sun...

Rob and Julie, their two friends from BYU, Dave and I went boating yesterday. If you ask me, "Did you have a good time?" I immediately say, "Yes, it was fun!" That's because I usually forget things like the late start because we had to buy a new battery, or the trouble we had getting the boat back on the trailer because of the wind, so we broke the signal light, or the way home... well, more about the way home.

I did have a fun time! The two guys did some tubing, and attempted some skiing. I got out on the tube as well, but felt it was too choppy for me to try skiing.

Rob, just before an amazing tumble...

Finally up, well for a minute...

Then, the hydrolic brake on our trailer froze. With smoke literally pouring out of the tire, we stopped, got out the fire extinguisher, and called AAA. We had to keep telling ourselves, "We made a fun memory on the lake. We made a fun memory on the lake."

I'm sure moments like this aren't the last to be seen, but how we handle them lets us know where we are in our progress. So, to that end, what did I learn about myself? Hmm, to be continued...

Fourth of July Fun!

We went to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to white-water-raft down the Snake River. It was a blast! The guide laughed as we fell into the raft rather than out of it. His job seemed to be to get us as wet as possible without actually taking a swim! Pictures of the fun are on the way...
Then, we went to Yellowstone. Of course there were cars blocking the way as people were jumping out of their cars to get a snapshot of a bison or bear. Here are some of the pictures we took.

Emergency Preparedness

Last Saturday, Dave and I had a booth at a Preparedness Fair in our neighborhood. Dave's love of emergency preparedness has led him to many years of research on topics such as water purification.
I have to admit, I find the topic of great importance as well. I have so much food storage which will need clean water to process. (I don't find chewing on wheat grains to be a very appetizing thought!)

Go to Dave's website to see what else "Grandpa Dave" says about Emergency Preparedness...
